Our Board of Directors
Carol graduated from Southern Methodist University in 1982 with a BBA. She has a background in medical sales. Carol currently volunteers with Community Bible Study as a children’s teacher and is active at her church. She has been a volunteer with Paper for Water and Living Water International to bring a water catchment system to Buhoma School in Bwindi, Uganda. Carol and her husband live in Dallas and have a son.
John is a retired Financial Executive. After graduation from St. Olaf College, he became a guided missile officer on two destroyers before acquiring an MBA from the Kellogg School at Northwestern University. John led several mission trips to Camp Coast Care for Katrina relief and continues to serve in leadership roles. He also enjoys being a Friendship Partner with several international students from the University of Texas at Dallas. John now enjoys traveling with his wife, Sue, for pleasure and volunteering.
Ann grew up in the suburbs of Chicago and moved to Texas in 1991. She is a retired nurse and teacher, and she served on the Health Services of North Texas board, her homeowners’ association board and the women’s board at her church. She also volunteered as a discussion leader with Bible Study Fellowship. Ann loves to travel with Pete, her husband of more than 50 years, and they especially love meeting people from other cultures.
Jeed is a retired professor of pediatrics from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas where she earned multiple teaching awards from both UTSW Medical Students and Children’s Pediatric Residents as well as D Magazine’s Best Pediatrician for seven years. She earned a BS and MD at Mahidol University in Bangkok, Thailand, and her research of infectious diseases and asthma is published in several journals. Jeed enjoys international medical missions and volunteering at the Dallas Arboretum
Jeff is a native Texan with more than thirty years of experience in founding, managing and developing ventures in technology, publishing, energy, and the Arts. One of his greatest loves is his church where he is a vestry member, choir member, and volunteer for local mission church partners. When Jeff and his family met Dr. Scott Kellermann several years ago, they were eager to support the foundation’s work in education and maternal healthcare. Jeff lives in Coppell, Texas and enjoys time at his Fairfield, Texas ranch and Nantucket cottage.
Julia Lippert recently graduated with a Master's in Public Health and Tropical Medicine from Tulane University as a Delta Omega member. After graduating with a BS in Biology from Seattle Pacific University, she worked at Seattle's Pacific Science Center, then proceeded to do improv comedy and work in entertainment in Los Angeles. She is passionate about public health communication and improving healthcare access. Since 2013 she has spent 10 months in the Bwindi region volunteering with the Batwa Development Program, Bwindi Community Hospital, leading vision clinics, and working with a UC Davis team on surveillance of emerging infectious diseases around Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.
Dr. Birungi graduated from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and University of London with a Master of Science in Public Health. He previously served at Bwindi Community Hospital as Executive Director and led several public health interventions with national and international awards. Dr. Birungi currently serves as a Health Officer for Uganda’s southwestern district of Kanungu. He is also a doctoral student of corporate strategy at Paris School of Business with an emphasis on addressing the challenges of health care in the low-income countries. Dr. Birungi enjoys singing gospel songs and is an accomplished musician.
Charles graduated with a Ph.D. in Theological Ethics from the University of Notre Dame and is currently a Professor of Theology at the University of Scranton. Charles has published and co-published several books and is an international speaker. He first visited Bwindi in 2005 and has returned as a trip leader with students from the University of Scranton several times. Dr. and Mrs. Pinches, who are active members at their church, live in Clarks Summit, Pennsylvania.
Susan grew up in an Air Force family, which instilled in her a love for travel, meeting new people and nurturing relationships. She is passionate about all things that conserve and preserve our precious resources. Susan is a LEED Accredited Professional, and a practicing sustainability consultant in Dallas. Susan and her husband Michael are members of the Episcopal Church of the Epiphany in Richardson where she serves in several capacities, with her most passionate one being a member of the Uganda Mission Team, since 2018.
Cindy is a retired sales and marketing coordinator and current middle school substitute teacher. She helped build the Nina Waits School in Mukongoro in memory of her mother-in-law who was a school teacher. Besides being very active in her church, she and her husband enjoy traveling near and far, exploring new places and experiencing new cultures. Cindy joined the Kellermann Foundation board in 2019.
